Press Release: Upgrade for German mechanical engineering: PartsCloud digitizes spare parts management
German B2B tech startup PartsCloud raises €5 million seed funding from Newion, MBG, and SquareOne. PartsCloud is the only all-in-one platform for spare parts management tailored to the needs of the German mechanical engineering sector. More than 25 customers already rely on its solution.
Pliezhausen, February 5, 2025 – Around 80% of spare parts stored in factory warehouses are never used and ultimately scrapped. Why? Because in German mechanical engineering, ordering is still often based on gut feeling rather than data. PartsCloud is the first solution provider to fully digitize the entire spare parts management process, from planning to customs to warehouse logistics, through one integrated software platform. With AI-powered forecasting, companies can avoid both shortages and overstocking, automate customs processes, and manage their logistics from a single source. That innovation has now convinced investors as well: In its seed funding round, PartsCloud secured €5 million from Newion, MBG, and SquareOne.
When a spare part is needed in production, machines stand still, and time quite literally becomes money. The faster the defective part is replaced, the lower the costs. “Most companies still rely on Excel spreadsheets for spare parts planning. What’s been missing until now is a data-driven solution that enables predictive planning,” says Benjamin Reichenecker, Co-Founder and CEO of PartsCloud. As an industrial engineer and former managing director of a mid-sized machinery manufacturer, he knows the challenges firsthand. “For small and mid-sized companies, managing spare parts without digital tools has traditionally been extremely time-consuming.”
Spare parts ordering as simple as online shopping
That’s why Benjamin Reichenecker and his Co-Founder Fabian Gemmecke launched PartsCloud with a clear mission: make ordering spare parts as easy as any other online purchase - digital, intuitive, and globally accessible at any time. For their customers, mostly in the mechanical engineering sector, this mission is already paying off. PartsCloud currently works with more than 25 customers across Europe and the U.S. By automating workflows, internal process costs drop by up to 79%, while inventory costs are reduced by around one-third thanks to AI-based planning.
“Our collaboration with PartsCloud has significantly improved both the efficiency and accuracy of our spare parts management. With PartsOS Inventory, we’ve cut down our manual planning efforts by more than 85% and improved spare parts availability considerably,” says Christian Meisen, Head of the Global Service Center at WEINIG Group.
Top-tier investors contribute €5 million
Market fit and product quality have attracted well-known investors to the table. “In a market under increasing economic pressure and skilled labor shortages, spare parts management has become a critical revenue driver for machinery manufacturers. But outdated systems and inefficient processes are holding many companies back,” says Leopold Lindner, VC investor at Amsterdam-based Newion. “PartsCloud, led by an experienced founding team, delivers the essential tools needed to modernize spare parts management—so SMEs can stay competitive and meet global demand quickly and precisely.”
PartsCloud will use the funding to expand its AI-based planning platform. The company’s predictive inventory analysis already reduces forecast errors by 30 % compared to traditional methods. This enables companies to anticipate part demand early on, based on historical data, trends, and seasonal patterns, while avoiding costly over- or understocking.
The new capital will also be used to enter new markets, including Asia. Since its founding in 2021, the Baden-Württemberg-based startup has raised a total of €7.5 million.
Seamless integration into existing systems
PartsCloud’s all-in-one software integrates seamlessly into existing IT environments. ERP systems can be connected to PartsOS via plug-and-play, allowing the platform to orchestrate the entire procurement and distribution process. Instead of fragmented systems and multiple points of contact, customers benefit from a single, centralized cloud platform. To make this possible, PartsCloud partners with a wide range of third parties: logistics providers, customs agencies, and freight forwarders, and connects them digitally with users. COO Fabian Gemmecke calls this a “worry-free solution.” And it’s easy to use. “You don’t need a dedicated logistics team or planning department—resources many smaller companies simply don’t have.”
